In May 2008, Energy Capital Partners (ECP) and Martin Resource Management Corp. (MRMC) formed Cardinal Gas Storage Partners, LLC, a 50:50 joint venture focused on the development, construction, operation and management of natural gas storage facilities. At Cardinal, we believe that the natural gas storage business has compelling fundamentals and we expect that natural gas demand and volatility will likely increase in the future creating a need for additional natural gas storage capacity.
Our goal for Cardinal is to create a national footprint to take advantage of what we believe are positive storage fundamentals. Cardinal has both salt cavern and depleted reservoir gas storage development projects. Arcadia Gas Storage (AGS) is currently an operating salt cavern natural gas storage facility located near the town of Arcadia in Bienville Parish, north Louisiana. Perryville® Gas Storage (PGS) is a salt cavern development project located 12 miles south of Delhi, LA. Cadeville Gas Storage (CGS) located in Ouachita Parish approximately 10 miles southwest of Monroe, LA is currently developing 16.5 Bcf of working gas capacity. Additional projects are in various stages of development and acquisition.
Cardinal also owns International Gas Consulting (IGC), which is one of the best known consulting firms in the gas storage industry having served as the independent consultant on approximately 80% of salt dome facilities and nearly two-thirds of all gas storage facilities in the US. IGC offers a full range of technical services for the planning, engineering, design feasibility, project management, commissioning and opereration for all sizes and complexity of oil and gas industry projects. The Cardinal management team has a strong gas storage background of industry experience. The capabilities of this team in combination with ECP's and MRMC's shared vision and complementary skills positions Cardinal exceedingly well to achieve this goal.
